Happy 1 Year!

For some reason my mind has a difficult time grasping how quickly time goes by. Sometimes it feels as though something that happened years ago was just last week, and other times it feels as though something that happened just last week was months ago!

As strange as it may be for me to grasp that whole time thing, it does move along whether my brain decides to participate or not. And although it doesn’t feel as though it’s been a whole entire year, today is my one year anniversary of dating my boyfriend, Mr. Envoy.

I remember when we first met. It was through (wait for it…) World of Warcraft, back when we both were still with our ex’s. We used to do raids together here and there, and added each other on Facebook but that was about it because we were both already seeing someone. Then sometime last summer, while he was deployed to Afghanistan, he started messaging me because he wanted someone to talk to. We’d respond to each other every few days and were sometimes lucky enough to catch each other on at the same time (stupid 12 1/2 hour time difference). After a little bit our relationship status came up in our conversations, and once we realized we were both single we started responding to each other a lot more often ;)

I’ll never forget the day I realized I had fallen for him… it was the day before my birthday last year, and he had sent me an updated picture of himself (the pics he had on FB were really old and…. not the best lol). He was smiling the biggest smile and looked so handsome, and I remember looking into his eyes in that pic and thinking “Damn, I really like him!”. Hell, I knew I had it bad for him when I was getting up at ridiculous hours in the morning just so I could skype with him for a few hours before he went to sleep. And anyone that knows me at all knows what a huge deal that is, because I don’t get up early for just anyone. I mean seriously, I’m not a morning person >_>

I have to say though, it sure was nice when he got back to the states and we were able to text as well as skype (and on normal people times too!). Hell, it was the best surprise ever when he first texted me, because he had said that I wouldn’t hear from him for a few days because of them traveling back to the states; but turned out he was able to text me a lot earlier than he thought because they landed in Alaska and he had service :D

Then, after much talking and waiting for this day to arrive, it did… the day we first met. He had his friend drop him off at a Starbucks in between his barracks and my house, and I met him down there. I remember parking, and having this knot of worry in my stomach… “Would I still like him after we met? Am I building this up too much in my head?”.

But we met, and everything was fine. I was waiting for my Starbucks to be made and I turned around and saw him standing behind me all nervous. He was holding his hands in front of him and just looked absolutely nervous as hell and adorable at the same time. We hugged and walked back to my car and headed up to my neck of the woods for lunch and a movie. Our movie of choice was of course, The Hobbit.

Now, exactly one year later, he and I are going to be doing something very similar to what we did the day we first met. We are going to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and then are going to cook a turkey dinner together (I’ve never cooked a turkey before, so I’m excited!!). Eek, speaking of our plans for today, he just walked in the door so I better wrap this up :P

I have so many great memories of the day we first met, and of all the times after that led up to now. He is the most caring, sweet, and intelligent man I know, and I am so thankful to have him in my life.

Happy one year anniversary sweetie! I hope there are many more ahead of us :)

I love you Mr. Envoy, to Azeroth and back <3

<3 and harp strings,
Kate

P.S. Fun Fact: The town where the Starbucks that we first met at is in, is the town we now live in. And we frequent that Starbucks very often :)
